Carbon Offsets Report

The Client

The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers (GSGP) is a coalition of cities in the U.S. and Canada who advocate for policies and economic activities that support the Great Lakes. With a focus on sustainability, they tackle issues ranging from water quality to green energy to food sourcing.

The Challenge

GSGP identified a key area of opportunity for the Great Lakes region: creating a Voluntary Carbon Offset Market. The nonprofit partnered with researchers at the University of Michigan to create a report. The GSGP team approached Orso about taking their academically-dense, 90-page report and making it into something visually pleasing, approachable, and on-trend.

The Solution

Together with a team from the University and GSGP, Orso led the concepting and design for the report. After market research of energy-focused reports across the nation, we defined a look and feel for the report that would feel professional, clean, and modern. We pushed for a brand identity that was minimalist and didn’t rely on the green palette commonly seen across other sustainability-focused reports.

The lead designer for this project was Kari Paine.
